Baoli
 PPBiaxial geogrids have been proven in full scale pavement trials to out perform any other commercially available geogrid in the world. It is an effective product to reduce pavement thickness with no loss of performance.

Ground stabilisation and Pavement reinforcement

Proven history and performance both in America and around the World for ground stabilisation on road and highway projects

  • Utilising Baoli PP biaxial geogrids, granular pavement thickness can be reduced by up to 33% without performance or design life penalties, resulting in a reduction excavation, spoil and imported pavement materials.
  • Pavement design life can be greatly extended by incorporating Baoli PP biaxial geogrids, typically tripling design traffic carrying capacity of a similar depth pavement
  • Rapid deployment and excellent performance make Baoli PP biaxial geogrids ideal for building temporary access roads, especially when the subgrade is soft, heavy vehicle loads or quality fill is scarce.

Railways

  • Baoli PP biaxial geogrids can be used in several locations in railway formations. Baoli PP biaxial geogrids used in the capping layer provide reinforcement in the lower layers, improving the bearing capacity and reducing treatment of excessively soft areas.
  • Baoli PP (large aperture) biaxial geogrids stabilise the rail ballast and track bed, improving the performance and possibly reduces track bed thickness. Utilising Baoli PP geogrids in the ballast layer extends the life between re-ballasting and tamping operations by limiting the movement and displacement of the rail ballast. 

Accessing very soft areas

  • Construction of roadways and developments often traverse through soft or waterlogged ground causing many access and construction problems. These areas include very soft mud and clays, peat or tailings deposits. Baoli PP biaxial geogrids perform like a “snow-shoe” providing immediate support to construction activity in the initial fill layers and allowing effective compaction, expediting construction and reducing fill requirements.

Reduction in differential settlements

  • Multiple layers of Baoli PP biaxial geogrids can be utilised to construct working platforms that can significantly reduce differential settlements, useful for airport pavements, hardstand areas and foundations, especially over soft subgrades.
  • Multiple layers of Baoli PP biaxial geogrids create a stiff beam within the aggregate layer by confining the aggregate, effectively spreading the imposed loads over a larger area and creating a monolithic structure, reducing differential settlement.

Capping application

  • Tensar biaxial PP geogrids enable safe, rapid placement and compaction of fill in capping of very soft sludge lagoons and industrial waste deposits.

Load transfer platforms

  • The effective confining action of the Biaxial PP geogrids allows use in pile caps and load transfer platforms. As an alternative to traditional poured concrete, aggregate caps reinforced with Biaxial PP biaxial geogrids can be used to cap foundations of structures built over pile fields efficiently transferring the imposed loads to the deep foundations.
  • The Biaxial  Load Transfer Platform is a layer of high quality granular fill reinforced with Baoli biaxial geogrids. The LTP provides a stiff layer that transmits load directly from an embankment or pavement formation to the supporting foundations below. Based on model foundation testing, the effective load spread of a granular layer reinforced with Tensar biaxial geogrids can conservatively be taken as 45º. 

Heavy duty pavements

  • In applications where the foundation is soft and heavy loading is expected, multiple layers of Biaxial PP  geogrid may be required. Multiple layers of Biaxial PP biaxial geogrids create a stiff beam within the aggregate layer by confining the aggregate, effectively spreading the imposed loads over a larger area, reducing the imposed loading on the subgrade, improving the performance of the pavement by allowing heavier loading or reduced pavement thickness. In such cases two or possibly three layers of geogrid may be required to efficiently spread the load over wider areas.
